Experience: Dr. Finley is a Fellow of The American College of Mohs Surgery and has been conducting Mohs Micrographic Surgery procedures for 26 years; he has completed over 12,500 cases.
Career: Dr. Eric Finley was born and raised in Mexico, Missouri. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Missouri-Rolla School of Mines and was voted outstanding chemistry student all three years. He attended medical school at the University of Missouri-Columbia and received his medical diploma with Cum Laude honors in 1989.
Dr. Finley served his medical internship at Lackland US Air Force Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. He completed his dermatology residency serving as Chief Resident his 3rd year at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. He completed a 2 year Dermatologic Surgery fellowship at Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans from 1993-1995. The fellowship consisted of extensive training in Mohs Surgery & Cutaneous Oncology, cosmetic and laser surgery.
He served 10 years with the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 2001 as a Major receiving a meritorious service medal as the Head of Dermatology at Keesler Medical Center in Biloxi, Mississippi. He worked for 4 1/2 years at Ochsner Clinic Foundation and was the Section Head of Dermatologic Surgery before Hurricane Katrina. After living 9 months in Denver, Colorado, he came home to New Orleans and opened his own solo private practice.
In his free time, Dr. Finley likes biking, jogging, drumming and spending time with his dogs.
Publications: Dr. Finley is the author of 12 articles published in peer-reviewed medical journals and books on various dermatologic surgery subjects.
